I have the HX471 and think it is an excellent radio. The HX270 should be a solid unit too, but without some of the additional features of the 471. The SH gear is pretty solid and very durable. My only complaint, and this probably applies to the HX270s you're looking at, is there is no visible battery level indicator that I've been able to find. NONE. So keep it charged..
