At wits end on seamingly simple task

I always find the easiest tasks to be impossible.

I have posted this previously however no remedy as yet. Am seeking further advise.

I have contected likely every manufactuer and\or distributor regarding this. The main issue seems to be that nobody actually READS the request and spends all of 6.2 seconds on it.

I am looking for a brass inset fill cap with winch handle socket with a 2 inch opening version. Picture of exactly what I need is attached (However the picture is of a 1.5" opening version).

-or-

Same thing but either brass, plated or stainless full cover version. 2nd picture attached.

This to replace(get rid of) the original cheeseball Plastimo plastic caps. 3rd picture attached.

I do not want to replace 3 fills including all of the work and cussing and damage that will surely occur. I merely want to replace the caps.

$10 Starbucks card for the person that leads me to obtain correct caps :-)

CalebD will become famous soon enough
I doubt I can find one that will accept a winch handle

But there certainly are 2" caps available. You might have to buy the whole fitting to get the cap and hope it is threaded the same as your existing fixture.

Didn't you post about this about a week or two ago???

BTW, you don't want brass for external fittings on a boat... brass dezincifies and then becomes a weak copper sponge. You want BRONZE or STAINLESS STEEL.

Plastimo makes the deck fill fittings you're looking for, but I believe they're only 1.5" not 2".

I've posted a link to the same fitting for you previously.

If you can't call Plastimo and order them directly, then my guess is you're SOL. Chances are very good that if the plastic caps are Plastimo made, the stainless or bronze ones they make will fit the same fittings.

IF you didn't call Plastimo, shut up, quit whining and call them.

Don't send the card to the dog - I think he's had enough caffeine today.

You definitely don't want brass.

A quick search turned these up in Stainless:

http://www.marinershardware.com/Ord-Deck-Fills.php

You'll have to poke a round a bit to turn them up in bronze. Seems like most have gone to a different key system than the winch handle socket type.

BTW, depending on what you want, they make them in both 1.5" (38mm) and 2" (51mm) The part numbers for the 2" Stainless steel fills are as follows:

Stainless Steel 51mm/2" deck fill plug only p/n 48829

You do have to specifically request the winch handle version rather than the regular fill key version as I pointed out in your other thread.

John P: Yes, however those are inset stainless. My fills are brass. Need inset brass or full cover stainless.

Saildog: Yes, posted previously, hence the statement, "I have posted this previously"

And yes, I've called Plastimo. They too do not actually read the request, however after several duplicate requests I finally discovered that the only replacement caps they offer are plastic.

And I do want brass, if it is an inset cap. I have polish :-D

Fogcity mentions aluminum full cover, however no additional info. Link is merely to some boat for sale.

This is the same series are problems incurred while perfroming this month-long search. I think Saildog may be right on one point, I'm SOL.
