Looking for a plumbing part

Hey all,
Wonder if anyone has come across or used a check valve for the galley sink. My sink drain runs directly to a thru hull. The previous owner had a rubber "flapper valve" that has completely dry rotted. My concern is that while healed the water will backflow into the galley sink. The standard check valves I have seen at Lowes etc dont allow the typical bits and debris generated by galley wastes. The new lines are 1 1/2" ID. Any solutions you have used?

Our last boat had a galley sink too far outboard, and water indeed backed up and into sink (and beyond) even at normal heel angles.

Wouldn't trust these "flapper" valves anyway... closing the thruhull (as Freesail indicated) was S.O.P.

Same here. It's annoying as the thru-hull is in the engine room, but safest.

You can put a shut-off valve directly beneath the sink, if that's easier.
