Keel orientation on Minto Sailing Dinghy

To Puget Sound boaters who know what a Minto is:

Which way does the daggar board go in? Curved side forward or aft? I figured forward but geez, I've been known to pound a square peg into a round hole before.

On most dinghies it's curved end aft, trailing.

Plumper is on a distinguished road
Mine has a sloped bottom and a fared shaped to it. It goes in with the deep part of the slope to the rear and the round edge forward. It was a very tight fit , especially when it had been wet for a while so I planed it down a bit and now it is easy to put in. The centre board trunk plug still jams in when I am towing the dinghy. Needs more work with the plane.

The short answer is with the long side of the blade forward. At least as current tradition has it. Ed Hoppen was the original builder in the early 1960's at his EDDON Boat Yard in Gig Harbor. Hoppen turned the Minto production over to Howard Smith at Ranger Boats in the mid 1960's. Ranger produced the Minto for over 30 years. Rich Passage Boats, LLC has been producing the Minto since 2005. Although the Minto has gone through some evolution since it was first built, the changes have been minor. The RP Minto is essentially identical to the Ranger Minto as it was produced from the late 1960's. The Ranger configuration has the dagger board installed with the long side forward. However (here comes the controversy) I have the 1964 EDDON Boat line drawing for building the Minto and it shows the long side aft. So I guess the answer is either is correct, but again, since Ranger began building the Minto the long side has been forward. You can see instructions for rigging the Minto at the Specs page of richpassage.com web site.
