Please can you recommend a strobe LED?

I didn't want to disrupt the previous thread on lamps and stuff.

I would like to buy, in this trip if I have a chance or on my next trip to the US:

1) an anchor light, that I can put outside when anchoring to save my bateries.

I would like a LED strobe lamp that doesn't have to be very complicated or costly. Preferably one that can last several 8 hour nights of strobing.

2) One of those brass lamps you guys have in the US, to use inside that burns that liquid. Doesn't have to be brass, but has to be hard to resist marine environment and adaptable to have outside in wind conditions.

Please guys, what do you recommend, and PLEASE give me a link as I am not very good at searching on the net.

I am going to a Westmarine soon, I hope next week in Chicago, if they have one there. So if WM has them would be better. For Sailnet is too late to order and recive it by email as I am leaving soon.

Thank you in advance

Giulietta,

I'm not sure if any of the high-intensity strobes have gone over to LED yet.

This strobe doesn't have the battery life you spec-ed, but my son has it and we've been pleased:

This strobe I haven't seen in person but it does have a red LED option and much longer battery life:

I like the Princeton Tec products. We sent our battery-powered spotlight to them under warranty for repairs. It was in the belly of one of the fated Sept. 11 flights and got destroyed. They sent us a brand new one free of charge.

We purchased ours at WM.

Plumper is on a distinguished road
I have one of these Davis LED anchor lights:

It is fabulous. Burns almost nothing. It has a fresnel lens so it is very visible and it shuts of automatically when the sun comes up. It is just my backup but I think it is wonderful. It doesn't strobe though.

Plumper,
Nice light, I like that. Sounds like an ideal backup.

I don't want to use my batteries...I have a regular anchor light on the top of my mast, and it uses a lot of power when left all night on...

I saw a boat in the summer that had a flashing light, and his lasted forever...that's what I want.

Thanks

TE...it is no backup light...EVERYONE out cruising uses them because they only take .11 amps to run and are LEGAL. about an amp a night for an anchor light really saves those batteries. Their "Ultimate" version also has yellow and red lights which can be set to flash AND an ultra brite setting which uses .32 amps. It is also good cause it turns itself on and off automatically with a photo sensor.

GIU...this is what you want! Uses 1/10th of your masthead light. You can't use a strobe at anchor here. Can you use one in Euro?

Giu...here's the lamp that worked best for us and whose finish held up best in salt environment:

Weems & Plath...available most boat stores and on internet.
