SailCare Delivers
okay, today was a great day..first the West Marine catalog comes in the mail...then late this afternoon UPS delivers a box containing my freshly cleaned and repaired main and 135% roller furl jib.
almost 8 weeks to the day from sending them in,now my 18 year old sails look like new.
i sent them in when SailCare was running their 10% discount special (back in mid december).
i kept in touch w/ Sam (i think she's married to the guy who owns the place), anyway, when i spoke to her last week, she suggested it might be another two weeks (making total time away from my boat being 10 weeks)..well, to my surprise, they appeared today.
now, my sails were in pretty decent shape when i sent them in, but $901.85 later my sails look brand new. i figured that replacing just my 135% with sunbrella strip would have cost me twice the price for a comparable sail from a decent loft (mine are UK Halsey)..
think i'm happy?..you betcha..great work and pleasant people made the process so easy.
in my previous life we'd say "treat people well, they will tell maybe, 3 others..treat them badly, they'll tell no less than 10..well..i'm so satisfied i'm telling my 3 right here.

Great to hear!!!! I am waiting on my main and mizzen to come back from SailCare. I did the same thing and sent mine in mid-Dec to get the winter discount.
I have spoken to the EXTREAMLY helpful people at SailCare quite a few times over the years and I am always happy to do business with them. They have cleaned sails for me in the past, and I have to say, they have the best deal going on stantion blocks for roller furlers. I can't recommend them enough.
Now I'm gonna keep looking out for the UPS guy to see if he has a present for me!!

as i think it important enough to keep on the front page..
when i opened the sailcare box..( damn sails is heavy) i also noticed my freshly cleaned sailbags..and honetly, at first, thought they had replaced them w/o charging me..
second glance revealed "Passagemaker Main" and same for my 135% jib...
for anyone that decries the 'price', you are missing a bigger picture which is: preventative maintenance is the key. 18 year old sails and they are good as new..a suit O' sails for $901...helluva deal as far as i'm concerned.
now, if you send ratty, tattered cloth to em, be prepared for big expense or a "they're too far gone..we buried them at sea" bad on you for waiting so long..remember, our sails are our usually guaranteed source of power,please treat em with respect.
now i wanna go sailing..speaking of which..anyone in the lower ches bay who wants to go out the last week of feb..pm me..i'm near mobjack bay in mathews co.

IMHO, the best thing Sailcare does is dealing with slightly older sails that are still in fairly decent shape but in need of some TLC.... with really beat-up, worn sails, there isn't much they can do... That said, they do some really great work on making those older sails in need of TLC look and act much newer.

Got home from work and my mainsail was on the front porch from Sailcare. Looks like a brand new sail. Now we are ready for Spring!!

I sent them 3 jibs, a Genny and my main. The main needed a lot of work which they could do but we couldn't justify the cost of repair vs new. I'm having them make a new main for me since they have the old one as a pattern. A number of items will be updated like loose footed, full top two battens, sail slugs on the leech, etc.. Can't wait to get them back and give them a try. And I agree, everyone I talked to was very helpful.
