Maintenance Season

For some of us, the inviting winds of spring are quickly approaching and for some the spring is a distant thought. Here in Charleston we are off to an early start as temperatures have been hovering in the sixties and even seventies for several weeks now. My trip to the marina last weekend proved eventful as I was not the only one kicking off the "maintenance season" as I call it. Sportfishers were blowing out enough smoke to control the Southeast's mosquito population, and I saw one sailor with his legs and a single arm flailing out of the lazarette while attempting to analyze the situation down under. I decided to take advantage of the sun and repair some gel coat thereby procrastinating before diving into the inevitable depths of the bilge.
What are some of the maintenance nightmares you have run into or have witnessed after a long winter?
