Canvas snaps?

My hybrid hard dodger has removable canvas sides. The side panels snap on, and then the front panel snaps in place over the front of the side panels using a double snap of some sort. Several of these have failed and need to be replaced. I have tried using rivets and small screws to replicate but no success. Basically what I am looking for is like this but fastened together.

Have not found anything on sailrite and don't know what this configuration would be called.
TIA

Sailboy21,

It's a bit tricky for me to follow your description, but I think what you may be looking for is called a "gypsy stud". Sailrite should carry them.

Sailrite should have any fastener for a dodger you might conceivably need.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Sailboy,

I didn't mean to imply that your description was lacking, but rather that my dawn-of-man brain was slow on the uptake. Please let us know if the "Gypsy stud" is what you were after.

Gypsy stud was indeed what I was looking for! And.. I really don't know hardly anything about canvas! (except that in order to Install a $0.35 gypsy stud I need to buy a $35 die)

I'm actually trying a little experiment right now. I am replacing my old foggy front panel on my dodger with a panel comprised of an acrylic sheet, bonded with a contact adhesive to a sunbrella 'frame' Its not costing me much (maybe about $40) and is WAY, WAY cheaper than a new Rainier glass panel. I wouldn't pay someone to put in another vinyl window.. There is no point, you can't see things in the water.. When I make some more progress I'll post pics.

Ouch!!!

I guess that's why so many folks hire out for canvas and sail work. It's hard to cost-effectively amortize those kinds of obscure tool costs on one job....
