Yanmar 2gm Tranny separation help!!
Hi Folks... I have to remove my trans from my block for rebuild. Tried in place... NG... couldn't get to the bottom to pry! Unable to wedge the trans off the block from top & sides so I had to pull it out into the cabin... OUCH.
With access all about the bellhousing I can only get about 1/8" gap. Shim shingles...NG. Cut a pair of long oak wedges... NG. Plastic... small & large...NG. Every screwdriver & even a wonderbar. I have even suspended the engine(just barely... over *lots* of padding) slightly and provided much prying as well as pounding on wedges and pounding the tranny with a dead-blow hammer all about... Did I mention the penetrating Oil????
I am wondering if I can keep driving under the inside lip of the bell housing. It looks like a wedge will be 'behind' the damper disc. Is that OK?? Should I be driving from all sides 'till she pops... or working about in a circle with 1 wedge? Any & all help appreciated. Cash offers also considered Thanks!
