Frozen whisker poles

My twist-to-lock type aluminum whisker pole has frozen up. Does anyone have any suggestions for freeing it up? I''ve been told not to use stuff like corrosion X / wd 40 on aluminum.

Frozen whisker poles

Hi,

Why should WD40 be a problem,I used it after a similar problem.I cleaned properly, after using WD40,in order to prevent dust and sand clogging up moving parts.
I see now problems.
Good luck.

I went to the forespar site to double check remedies, they suggest soaking the pole in a rain gutter filled with white vinegar, seems the vinegar disolves the salt build up which is why the pole froze in the first place. They say the locking mechanism will be compromised if any other method is used. I know I''ve answered my own question, but thought you guy''s might want their answer too.
