Standing Rigging

I own a 1984 32 Sabre and was wondering when does one begin to think about changing the standing rigging ? I sail off shore and sometimes in rough seas ? The Pros can''t seem to agree. Any thoghhts ?

Standing Rigging

I have a 1981 Jeanneau and I just got it all replaced. The people I''ve spoken to all suggested by 20 years it was past time. The suggested rerplacement period ran from 10-15 years, with all suggesting replacement by 15 years. These were all reputable riggers in the Newport, RI area.

Good Luck
Dave

This question comes up every year, with the same answers every year. The riggers all say that sooner or later you need new rigging. So do the sailors and other owners. Sooner or later you do. How soon is up to you, your priorities, and cash flow. New rigging might break tomorrow, and old rigging might last another ten years, so add your peace of mind/comfort level to the equation too.
