D/A steering wheel

i'm looking to replace my stainliss pedestal guards with some longer ones. i can't find the manufacturer of the steering wheel/fiberglass pedestal. the pedestal has a plate on the top that the stainless guards fit through. on the wheel there is an anchor and the letters D. A. i just want to make sure the new guards will work with the plate. i'm assuming the old guards slid through the plate but i'm not sure if they are attached and it was all one piece. the boat is a '78 catalina 30.
