Charger help.

I have a 2 bank batterie system consisting of 2 4D''s in 1 bank and an optima in the other, all are AGM. I need a charger and I''m looking for advice. I''m thinking about the Statpower truecharge 20+.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Charger help.

Hi Chris,
Have you considered getting a power inverter such as a Heart freedom series. They have a good three stage charger built into them, when you plug your boat in the charger is instantly in opperation. If you don''t presently have a power inverter aboard your boat, I think you would find it a very usefull upgrade to your boat.

Charger help.

Chris,

Glad to see that I''m not the only one in love with AGMs! I have two banks of Lifeline GPL-4Cs... Anyway, I think the Heart Charger/Inverter is a good choice because you never know when you''ll need AC on board. Plus, they seem to be pretty durable.

My uncles 3 month old boat had all navigation electronics zapped by a near miss of lightning, and while the computer, Autopilot, etc. were out of commission, the Heart Inverter/Charger soldiered on.

Just be sure to set the charge points right and to disable equalization (some chargers do this automatically)
