Autohelm ST7000 Course Computer

I own an older Autohelm ST7000 that uses the Z083 course computer. I think that unit needs to be replaced, as all the other components seem to work OK. Can I use the newer Raymarine Type 300 computer and keep the drive unit, flux gate compass and control head? It seems a terrible waste to have to replace all those expensive units just because the course computer is obsolete.

I'm in need of a ST 7000 control as my ST 7000 course computer still works but the control head has died.

Probably just the driver unit is re-usable. But that is a significant cost saving.

I ended up replacing the unit with a Simrad autopilot, and gave the 7000 to a friend. I don't know if he used it or not, or if he was able to get it to work. Give me a call at 540-903-1054 and I'll give you his name and phone number. Ken
