12 volt wiring

Hi All,
I just purchased a propane heater with an internal 12 volt fan. I have a bulkhead light close to the position I will mount the heater. Can I splice into the bulkhead light to get power for the fan?

Shouldn't be a problem. Check your circuit breaker for that circuit and make sure you don't exceed its rating with everything else that's on the circuit. Also, make sure the wire to the bulkhead light will handle the load. Small fans don't draw that much so it should be OK but you always have to consider all factors.

The light will most likely dim on a 12 volt system when the fan engages. Remember to use the heat shrink, that’s one thing you can purchase at Lowes/Home Depot without sacrificing quality vs. West Marine’s prices.
