older lewmar winch parts

Does anyone know where I can get new drums or has anyone ever heard of sleaving the roller bearing surface for older (pre 1992, ocean series or even older?) lewmar winches.

I have a pair of std. 30''s that are perfect except that the alumm. berg. surface inside the drum is worn. It seems that that lewmar used the alum. as a race. It appears that is is worn around .030 to .040. The drums rock quite a bit. There is a .040 step where the brngs. don''t ride inside the drum.

Any help would be very appreciative.

Try the Australian Winch Company at www.australianwinchco.com or use GOOGLE search engine. GOOD LUCK!

You may have better luck looking for used winches and just using the drum from the one you find. Used chromed bronze lewmar 30's usually go for around $150. I sold a set for a friend on Ebay for $300. He had upgraded to ST30's.
You might find a bronze or stainless one for less than you can find just a drum.

Also that dreaded Ebay for us bottom feeders, I just found a set of unused Chromed bronze Barient 27-48ST for less than 1/3 the cost of new Lewmars or Harkens.

TO machine, insert new bronze races and finish machine the races to size would cost more than finding a used winch....
