Good thinking Beej. And running more wire is never a problem as long as you have one wire already there.

Credit where it's due - it was my wife's idea. I think she was inspired by us making some foam play swords for kids to beat each other up with, out of PVC pipe and Fun Noodles.

Good idea, I like seeing people thinking up simple solutions. It almost looks like there was room for another one in there, do they move much when the boat rocks?

They never move at all. I suspect they settled a little when the mast was turned upright, and got a little 'wiggle' in them as a result, eating up any spare space. For all intents and purposes it's a pair of stationary conduits made of 2 inch thick closed cell urethane foam walls.

Sweet. Now I can buy them with that thousand dollars worth of West Marine Cash on my refrigerator I always forget to take with me, instead of the loose change from my couch.

Thank you for sharing that solution. It is simply wonderful! Next time my mast comes down I'm gonna beej67 it. Putting the extra wire in for future use was brilliant.

Good luck with your boat.

Sweeet..... I love cheap, homegrown, improved solutions. Nice job!

I also have seen the fnoodle at a safety seminar. The speaker suggested that if you don't want to fork out for a lifesling you could just buy the poly rope, tie a bowline in the end with a lifesling sized loop and use a fnoodle in the loop for "U-shaped" flotation. Instant $15 lifesling.

He also suggested that sporting goods stores sell 5:1 plastic cheapo hoisting purchases for hoisting up and dressing deer and elk. Instant $10 lifesling hoisting tackle. Wouldn't use it on the mainsheet but if it can hoist an elk it can hoist my crew.
