Hello all, I have an inverter that was in the spares that came with my boat that i would like to install but ive noticed that it has a earth terminal, would i need to use this or would the house battery bank earth be OK?

You need to connect this. Find out where your house power panel earth is connected (usually the keel or an engine mount) and use the same sort of wire to connect the inverter to earth.

I hope this helps.
