Anti-Bird track???

I've got a C-27 mored on a ball. It's got boats all around it, but the birds have singled out MY BOAT as their night-time party spot/latrine. I've tried Owls, mono-filiment fishing line and rubber snakes (they were not impressed since there are no snakes in Hawaii - yet). My latest theory is they like to grip the genoa block track which runs down the rub-rail. Any ideas how to make the track hard to roost on and grip (other than moving the rail)?

Run some thin monofilament fishing line about 4" above the genoa tracks and the deck. To make the track hard to grip...try McLube Sailkote.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Catalina eh... and you're surprised ???

Sorry - couldn't resist. !!!

SD had a good idea. If you want to make something fairly permanent, then you can get those little plastic windmills and thread them on to the line that you tie to the stanchions.

Hello,

We have Cormorants and Gulls. Those birds like to sit on the spreaders and masthead. This how I keep them off my boat:

Bird control supplies

Easy to install and effective.

Good luck,
Barry

I fought the birds for years. I tried the mono line, snakes, owls, mouse traps with poor results. I finally kept them off my boat by drapping an old gillnet over it.

Catalina 27? Let me do some math here a second. I've got the chart around here some place. Ok, here we go. Place five high quality mooring balls of eighteen inches in diameter, or larger, within the cabin of the boat. Secure all hatches and flood the bilge of the boat until the deck is submerged no more than one half inch. The birds will still land there but a birdbath is easier to clean than a bird perch. sorry, i couldn't resist either. (g)

Thanks for the advice- with two notable exceptions....
Sailaway and Sailormann, you two need to find a quiet corner somewhere.
