depth finder

I own a Tanzer 22. The depth finder has not functioned since I bought it. Since I am planning on becoming more adventurous this season, I thought it wise to do a repair.

Any suggestions on how to start?

Yes,

repair it by buying a cheap fish finder and installing it. The cheapest models cost about $100

You can mount the transducer inside the hull, so you don't need any more holes in the boat.

If you have more money, color is nice. If you want a chart plotter and don't have one, you can get a nice small color chartplotter / SONAR unit for under $400.

Good luck,
Barry

Ditto. (I think many of those can be had for close to $70)

(what they said....)

..and

Ebay has the occasional Depth Sounder for cheap.. but it will require a hole in the hull if there isn't one already...

Not all transducers require drilling a hole. Some are designed to shoot through solid fiberglass hulls. Won't work with a cored hull though.
