depth finder

I own a Tanzer 22. The depth finder has not functioned since I bought it. Since I am planning on becoming more adventurous this season, I thought it wise to do a repair.

Any suggestions on how to start?

Yes,

repair it by buying a cheap fish finder and installing it. The cheapest models cost about $100

fish finder EAGLE CUDA 168 110-37, Eagle Electronics. The eagle cuda 168 fish finder

You can mount the transducer inside the hull, so you don't need any more holes in the boat.

If you have more money, color is nice. If you want a chart plotter and don't have one, you can get a nice small color chartplotter / SONAR unit for under $400.

Good luck,
Barry

Not all transducers require drilling a hole. Some are designed to shoot through solid fiberglass hulls. Won't work with a cored hull though.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
