new bottom coat

Hi All
Last season I purchased a new to me C&C 27 and stripped the many many layers of bottom paint off and added two coats of vc 17 extra for last years sailing season. I just gave the boat a wet sand (400grit) and am ready to reapply for this year.
My question is last year before I applyed the vc I use interlux v172 to clean the bottom before applying the vc and should I do the same thing this year even though there is vc already on the boat.??
After applying this year I will wet sand again with 2000grit. This boat is in fresh water and is used for racing 90% wife 10%
