What Oil Filter ??

I have a question and I am sure someone must know the answer. I have a Volvo MD11C motor on my boat. It has an white oil filter with just the number V16 printed on it. Anyone happened to know, what brand filer would be white with V16 on it ?

Do you have a pic where it resides on the motor? Probably will help more - nothing I could find on the Volvo site - recognized V16. VP-16 is a fuel filter used in some versions of the motor.

I didnt bring the camera today and I looked on the volvo site myself. I am thinking that it is an other brand of filter. I thought it might be a value Craft filer, but I couldn't find much info or a picture.

I really went to the boat to drain the 5 or so gallons of fuel in my tank. Turns out that 5 gallons is closer to 30 or 35 (42 gallon tank). So that didn't happen.

That is always the case isn't it! You know one thing you can do - those NAPA guys are usually on their snuff - take it in and see if they can recognize it or cross reference it...its worked for me on occasion for some of the obscure parts I have tried to find...

Torrenson Marine carries the right filter:

I would encourage you to stick with OEM brand as there is considerable variation in the quality of aftermarket filters.

Thanks Cam, I found an old volvo parts book and the number (897321-6) they give brings up a zero return on google.

Just an update for the MD11C Volvo oil filter. The Volvo filter cost almost $10.00. I found that fram offers a replacement filter for the Volvo Fram part number PH3614. It cost $3.75. Fram also says it has more filter media in there filters.
