NMEA stds and Magellan 315 GPS

Nav software often requires NMEA 183 standard. My Magellan 315 GPS has four NMEA settings - OFF, V1.5 APA, V1.5 XTE and V2.1 GSA. None say NMEA 183.

Are any of these NMEA 183?

Trying to link with Captain Voyager software. While Capn V does not find GPS, Hyperterminal in Windows shows the PC accepting data as described in the Capn V manual.

Any sugegstions or thoughts?

Mike

Mike,
All those that you cited are NMEA 0183. They are just different variants of the overall 0183 format. I have a Magellan 320 and I have use/can use either of the 1.5 versions. 1.5xx seems to work with most software. The very lastest software may require 2.1

Stach,

Capn Voyager calls for NMEA 183B. Are any or all of those cited above B? The program is not finding the GPS. The program is version 5.3, perhaps that is the problem?

Thanks,

Mike
