West Marine Teak System kinda Review

Being short on funds, but wanting to rid my teak deck of the eh grey modly look.. Yep, I know that the grey teak looks great to some but I see enough grey in Seattle that makes me about wanna...

So, I offer this pic. I used the West Marine 2 part system. It looks good in the picture and you do see a difference. The other caveat is that in 25 + years - no one has 'invigorated' the teak deck.

So, on the plus side - I will state it worked within reason. The minus - not the actual result I expected. Then again - neglected deck.

You be the judge as I did 1/2 and 1/2 in this pic.

to me it looks pretty much what teak looks like when you apply a cleaner to it. i'm not sure what you expected but if you were looking for that rich teak look, i think your going to have to apply some teak oil.

I have used the West Marine two-part teak system as well. Do one more application and then apply some teak oil. It will come out beautiful.

Don't do it. That teak looks rough enough already and I would do nothing that will further reduce the wood content and life. As Giu says...nothing is best.

I hate the nothing part - I despise the grey. And yes a little bit of color, the teak is already shot - the teak gets replaced in the fall anyways. But, for my sailing adventures I wanted to have it cleaned up at best it could be at least.

Oh...then use some really strong stuff like this:
TE-KA "Scrubless" Teak Cleaner Product Information

and put it on with a long handled short bristle brush and enjoy it till the fall!

If you really want color you have to oil it, and maybe bleach and oil for uniformity. I don't like the 'nothing' look either so I go with the WM package as well on my deck furniture, I have no topsides teak on my boat (I'm not crazy).
As much as I love working with wood, I don't want to be on the list of guys cutting fitting that jigsaw pattern on your deck, well maybe at 75 a hour it would be okay
