And for some more light, two battery powered LED lights, these have 5 LED's and are whiter than the smaller lights. They provide plenty of light for reading.

Yeah, pretty much. The 8w fluorescent in the boat consumes 250 ma and puts out a bit more light. I'm thinking about adding another set of 8 white, and a set of 8 red for night sailing. And maybe use a clear tube to hide the wires and mount the lights inside.

I replaced all the lights on my boat with LEDs - made them myself using LED boards in regular dome lights or MR16 style led "bulbs". When all the lights are on, the current draw is almost invisible on my amp meter. It's a 50 amp meter, and a single unit on it is 2 amps, but by the way arrow moves it is much less than 1 amp, more like 0.3-0.5. Thats the total draw. Add to that 3 super low draw fans and you are up to just under 1 amp total.

What kind of fans did you use?

I used Hella marine Mini Jet fans - like these: Mini Jet Fan

Those are neat, I ws actually going to use 2 or 3 of the dozen or so computer case fans I have laying around, maybe with a resistor to slow them down a bit.
