Why? Personally all three manuals I have always have junk that bleeds back to the bottom or that dang TP gets lodged up into and someone tries to sink the boat pumping the ocean dry...

What am I missing?

Seriously - because I have about had it with manual pumps....

Get a GOOD manual like a Lavac and plumb it correctly.
All I can tell you Jody is that you will forever be fixing electrics and mired in crap up to your elbows....but you're welcome to try....one weekend out with those 5 beauties ought to do it!!

Mired due to electronics ? The only two electrical components are a macerator and a pump....now if I was purchasing one of those it will wash your buttocks and give you the stock prices kinda items, I would concur.... but a macerator would be involved one way or the other for the proper system, and the pump for rinse... what am I missing less solar panels to make sure it works when the radar depletes it??

I have one Lavac. It works every time, no problem, no odour, no effort (OK, five to seven pump strokes...big deal!)

It diverts waste to a holding tank or out of the boat. It can also be used to EMPTY the holding tank out of the boat.

It can even be used as a bilge pump with a simple T-fitting.

It is what convinced my wife to buy the boat. The British seem to have forgotten everything they once knew about electrical devices, but when it comes to crap, choose British!

Oh, and Alex, I'm glad you're fixing your heads now...before your next guests arrive!

Giu - I think your vane pump diagrams have got the flow (red and green arrows) going in the wrong direction. That type of pump transports the liquid all round the cylindrical chamber. The barrier at the top, in your diagram, causes the liquid between the vanes to be squeezed out (left side) and sucked in (right side).

However, I think a flexible vane pump unsuitable for that application.

I agree 100% more I agree 200%.

But unfortunately I wanted the manual ones too, but we built hte spaces around the heads for electric heads, now it's hard to install manual ones due to the spaces and configurations. But its's done now...so nothing I can do..

Installing a manual for me involves relocating a thru hull in the forward head, which is not going to happen, and fabricating a special spacer and base for the salon head. Not happening soon either..and adds weight.

So my solution was to either get a better manufacturer, and these heads are made by Matro Marine altough sold by Plastimo, which is a good manufacturer, or find the problem and fix it..

I have no idea what the outcome will be, but one thing is sure...I do prefer to deal with problems with a system that has a pump, than having to deal with it with the manual pumps...believe me..I had both models, and it is way cleaner with the electric pump.

Anyway...I hope its fixed now, and to be honest, when they work its a charm. But note, they have worked fine all this time. Only the 2 times (last year once this year once) have they given me trouble...

Now, I know where is the problem and can tackle it fast.

But I agree, at least one of them should be manual...so I guess if the problem continues in a near future..that's what I will do..go manual on one of them...

Idiens..off course my drawing isn't perfect. It's to give an idea.

Gee...what do you think I am??? I made those on Paint brush program man, no CAD..

Gui-

We all knew you were full of it...

It'll be interesting to see how well the modified impeller blades work and how long they last. Keep us posted.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

What! I gotta use that tiny little head for DAYS!
I fully expected an 'environment' similar to what I enjoy on my tiny little boat:
