My new boat has a “Baby Blake” head on it. For those who have never heard of a Baby Blake, I was just like you before this boat. What I have come to learn is that this thing is the most expensive pot-to-piss-in EVER built for a boat. They currently list for about $6,000.00 and the price continues to climb. A simple rebuild kit alone runs for about $400.00+!!!! Why do I tell you all of this? The head leaks, does not flush well, smells and generally annoys the piss out of me (pardon the pun). I love the look and telling my friends what the thing is worth but I don't want to deal with the issues. So now I’m at a crossroad, do I keep the throne or throw it overboard and for the cost of a rebuild kit get myself a new electric macerating head. I could also get a new manual head but I'm not spending the money on a new Baby Blake.

I need advice!

You have to sing this song to your Baby Blake.

MySpaceTV Videos: The Baby - Blake Shelton by Debbie

Dang the link doesn't work, Google Baby Blake

I always smear a little waterproof grease inside the pump body whenever I install a rubber vane.

I was told to use olive oil with fresh water, in the last flush, before it will not be used for a while.

Apparentely it's what the guys from the big power boats do...learn every day..I guess

Chuckles,

Alex greeting to Val last year was....Hi, fix that head! Why that head? Because I had already worked on the other one!

You may become intimate with those heads before the trip is done. Of course, now that he is stopping at hotels, it may not matter.

You really shouldn't be pouring much oil into the head... because the oil will block oxygen from getting to the waste and lead to the anaerobic bacteria causing the really nasty smells.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

SD,,
The key in Alex message was when you are not using it for a while. Olive oil is the best thing to lubricate the rubber parts when you winterize the boat. That is after you have taken care of the holding tank and everything is clean. Just a great lubricant. Ask any Itialian, or Irishman that loves pasta!

AHAHAHAHA

That was soo funny....I am happy you remembered that...

Val arrived at the end of the day, when we were all done (and remember we had to wash the boat because the guy that polished it left it with these tiny dots all over the deck??)....

So he arrives, and me and Tom were so tired already...he walks in and says..what can I do to help?? In his un-mistakable fashion...

I looked at him and said....do you know marine heads??

He goes.."why yes off course...bla bla bla...."

I looked at Tom (with whome we had been fighting a stubborn water leak), and gave him the tool box...here...go fix it...

He did fix it good....

Anyway..all is good now...

and SD..the oilve oil is as I said, when you're not going to use it for a while...

Besides, my tanks are allways empty and clean...I make sure I go off shore on each sail...get it?? I never have bacteria or any other crap in the boat...

They cause weight when they are full.

I'm aware of that... but if you don't pump out the tank and have pumped oil into it...you'll regret it.
