Thumbs up If you had $1,000 to spend...
If your more-than-generous grandmother gave you $1,000 to spend as fun money, and you wanted to buy something for your sailboat that you ordinarilly couldn't justify, what would it be? Chartplotter? Self-tailing winch converter kit? New stereo? Tactick system? Something else??? I didn't think this decision would be so difficult! I suppose it could be worse!! I have an Irwin 31 Citation, sail on Lake Michigan, and could use any of the above.

We are pretty well set up for everything else.
Do need an Asymetrical, but don't think a grand would cover it.

Thats my advice as well. If there's nothing you absolutely need at the moment, then save it.

Some pragmatic and frugal advice, for sure.

But, considering "fun money" was the operative phrase, it's certainly much more fun being the prodigal son, than the wise old squirrel.

Only you can decide how much fun grandma's $1k windfall gift should be.
