Storm jibs
Is there a way, a formula or whatever, to work out the correct size of a storm jib for a given size boat? I see storm jibs for sale at various sail websites, but they often just tell how large the sail is (in terms of square feet or whatever), but not how large a boat the sail is made for. I''m thinking of buying one for my Cape Dory 26, but don''t know how big it should be.
Also, are there guidelines about the construction of such a sail? As they are used only when the weather is rough, they probably should be constructed very well. Any ideas are appreciated.
Thanks,
