The length of the aerial would be in the region of 40-45ft will that affect the performance?

Mallo- When you are rigging that ATU belowdecks...sorry if this is obvious to you, but make sure to run a drip loop in the cable. No matter how well it is sealed at the deck, water follows cables and if the cable just runs "down" into something, so does the water. A drip loop is just an extra foot of cable, bent like the u-trap pipe beneath a kitchen sink, so any water that comes down the cable goes to the bottom of the "U" and drips down from there--without being able to reach the equipment.

Good advice on the drip loop. Related advice is to be fastidious with cable ties and wire mounts and to avoid any areas of tension or possible friction.
