raw water anti siphon/vented loop?

BTW, I checked sailnet, and they only had the plastic vented loops. I like to give sailnet the referral when I can.

The Plastic AirVentv by Vetus was cracked and leaking yes, but the actual check valve that keeps the water from going out the vent was missing! Anyway, the new bronze one is in and it's great. Now even more water comes out the RW system like it should. Yes SD, I did ck SN first

You know what, I do not have one of those, should I? The raw water comes in from the saildrive, to the seacock on the yanmar 2GM, the hose connects directly to the impeller. Where would it be in the system? SD?

No idea... I've never seen a saildrive on a multihull, and they're generally not found on the older monohull sailboats I've generally sailed on, being a relatively new thing over all.

I don't have one of those and it was never on the boat before (definitely not in the last 13 years and probably not in 36 or so).

In my personal opinion this device helps some but also potentially creates problems that may (or may not, your call) outweight its usefullness. In my opinion, anything in the water intake line that can clog/fail/reduce water flow is a bad thing, as it may cause your engine to overheat while underway.
Certainly this has to be considered vs. siphoning which may fill the exhaust and then the engine - which means you should consider the rest of your installation, I guess. I trust the impeller vanes on this one - I trust them to keep water coming in to my engine and I trust them to keep the water out if the seacock is open (and it is only open while I am on board anyway so the window of opportunity is not huge).
