Key vs. Fuel Shutoff

I hate to expose my lack of memory (and I tried to search the old threads) but I have a question that I know has been addressed before. When I shut down my Yanmar engine, am I supposed to turn the key off THEN pull the fuel cuttoff handle or visa versa? Both ways work but I remember reading not too long back that one way was wrong....

If you turn the key off first you risk screwing up the electrical system.

Fuel shut off, key shut off, reverse the fuel shut off, i.e. fuel on for next week.

Prevents future 'why won't this damn thing start' moments next week.
Trust me, been there. Remembered about 10 cranks, 10 minutes of staring at the engine, forty strands of hair and 10 seconds before the Admiral dialed Towboat U.S.
