Info on Doyle Stratis Sail/Materials for Headsail

The sails on my boat or from 1992. There in decent shape, but being 16 years old, the surveyor rated them as good to fair, the main especially.

I got quotes from the Big 4; Hood, Doyle, North, and Quantum, as well as FX. All except FX were about the same money. FX was significantly cheaper.

I wasn't thinking of replacing the head sail, since it is the better of the two sails with respect to shape, but the Doyle rep said that he had a headsail (145 sized) that would fit my boat already made. It was miscut for a 34' boat (mine is 33') and would fit mine. It is made with Doyle's Stratis Technology/Material. He would let me have for a significant savings over the original cost, but I would need to bond a UV cover on it if I wanted to have it on my furler.

For the price he is quoting me, it's almost a no brainer, even if it lasts only 8 years. Does any one have sails made from Doyls Stratis material and if so, what do they/don't they like about them?

Thanks.

DrB
