Catamaran Mooring Warp Size

I am involved in a livley debate in the yacht club over the correct size of mooring warp for my yacht. There is little information for catamarans, most seems to relate to keel boats and may not be relevant.

I am intending to use three plait nylon warp and am really unsure as to the correct size.

My yacht is a 42' Robinson and Caine Leopard 42 (The moorings 4200 charter cat) and weighs around 8000kgs when not fully loaded. With the amount of rubbish I have on board its probably closer to 10000kgs. She is moored in a Marina with stern warps and breast lines on both sides and bow and stern springs on one.

I think I favour using 16mm rope for the mooring as being the largest I can comfortably handle and put onto the cleats however many here feel a minimum of 18mm for a yacht of this size and perhaps 22mm would be better. Others claim 14mm is more than adequate.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

Many thanks
