Bails

Have just removed the bail from the mizzen and want to refit it using a long bolt instead of the 2 ss screws that welded themselves to the aluminum. Would like any suggestions about minimizing future galvanic reaction. Should I put a sleeve of some kind over the bolt? or will Lancote suffice? or whatever.

Bails

One thing that is important is to add a compression sleeve in the mast so that the bolt does not crimp the mast.

Bails

Jeff, I realized about the compression sleeve when I installed the bolt last evening. However, putting one in the boom would not be easy at all, so I only tightened the bolt to firm then double nutted the bolt. I also put nylon washers where the bail would contact the boom, and Lancoted the bolt and boom holes. It appears to be fine and secure, any further comments would be welcome, otherwise, I thank you for your time and knowledge.
