Before & After (almost)

Still a lot of things to do, but I wanted to post a picture now that I finally got my project in the water. Keep in mind, this was my first attempt at redoing a boat, and it is far from perfect. I still have a lot of work to do, but I am pretty happy with it so far. Thanks to everyone on this forum, as I learned a ton of new skills, avoided many mistakes, and you all made my project much less frustrating. My before is my current Avatar, the after is attached. Okay, now I just have to repaint the hull, put Kiwi Grip on the non skid, oh yeah, and learn how to sail! Thanks everyone, it has been a great experience. I fear though that I may be looking for another wrecked boat in the near future to go through this all over again!

I figured I could do the next one a lot faster. I must have sanded the silly deck 15 times, 5 times for each attempt at a paint job! I should be able to save 30 hours there alone!
Why would I do it again? To be honest, it is a fun hobby, and since I have a ton of left over materials, this go round would be far less expensive. I actually have a line on an 18 foot Edels, I can get it for free, and only needs the entire inside ripped out, redo the deck, some minor sail work,.....
NOT FOR AT LEAST 4 MONTHS! I want the skin to grow back on my fingers where I have sanded it all away!

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Your moniker of Finallybuyingaboat is anti-climatic unless you get to sail her for awhile . . . you think?

You've done a great job and put a lot of sweat equity into that little beauty. Now, get out there and enjoy the summer by sailing her - Damn-it.

Nice work...but I think you forgot the mast! Or was this a "sailboat to powerboat conversion" project?

Let's see some more before and after (especially after!) pictures.

By the way, I feel your pain and passion:

After:

Yeah, I figured I would wait until I reattached the chain plates before I put up the mast though! Less likely for the mast to come crashing down that way!

I ripped out the rotten bulkheads and replaced them, but simply ran out of time to re-attach the chainplates before my turn to use the crane came up! I figure I'll get the chainplates in tomorrow, mast up on Thursday. Hoping to get out on the water Thursday night.
