GPS Handheld Rental??

It just occurred to me I should see if anyone knows of a place that rents a handheld GPS with the charts I need.

I am going North this summer and am determined not to pay the $400+ for the charts I need for my Garmin 76csx. I need Maine through Chesapeake (010-C0060-00)

Is anyone aware of a place to rent a handheld with charts?

Don't know of any places that rent. Maybe someone has the charts that you can borrow?

Are you sailing up from North Carolina? Will you have a laptop for navigation too?

Just download SeaClear II and all the charts you need into your laptop for free.

You know why we like the handheld....I think we've just gotten used to having the Garmin handy to allow whoever is not at the helm second guess whoever is.

I really don't like the idea of relying on a computer for Navigation - but it would be OK for a backup to our chartplotter...as would paper charts of course. I just have to decide whether to payup to Garmin.

Garmin needs to make a great big card. If these charts were on a disc the size of a paperback I wouldn't mind paying the price. That's all it is - They need a bigger card.
