Ah, the Atomic 4 of the outboard world! Fewer moving parts that the average artificial arm, or so I understand.
I wouldn't turn one down, because they are supposedly very reliable and super-torque-y, which I prefer in a tender engine... but then I one two sextants. I just bought a Honda 4-stroke 2 HP (air-cooled), and while noisy, it's not ridiculously so, and to have my compact wife single-hand it off its transom is something to behold. It gives the Portabote 5 knots with 3 people aboard and seems to run on a litre of gas for...well, I don't know how long, as I've had it out three times so far and it's still more than half-full.
I don't like the external aft tank from a weight point of view, but I do like it from a filling point of view and the fact that you could probably figure out the fuel remaining by tapping the tank with a coin or a pencil.
Also, no one will steal that because it looks more like a weed whacker than an outboard.
