repainting and rub rail

Im getting ready to repaint my boat with brightside. Do I need to remove my bang rail to paint my hull or is it ok if i just tape it off and cut in? If I need to can it be taken off without destroying it?

What is the boat? How is it attached? What kind of shape is it in?

On my little boat, it would be difficut to remove without replacing and it would be a pretty big job and not cheap. I will be taping.

I've had this done twice just taping the rail with excellent results. Just don't skimp on the quality of the tape.
