Painter attaches to where?

Hi

Im doing up a Miracle sailing dinghy.

The current arrangement is to attach the painter to the jib stay chain plate.
But I dont like it.

The right angle forces cant be doing it any good at all.

But there is no obvious attachment points.

I could screw in an eye bolt to the bow, but it could get a knock and rip the wood. It might pull out, especially when being winched up onto a trailor.

I could put a cleat onto the deck, but there is not much to bolt into.

This solution (click here for diagram) distributes the pulling forces into the hull.


Any suggestions?
