It would help if you posted which specific control unit you're looking for. Also, highly recommend you read the post in my signature.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Rockter will become famous soon enough
I bought a Navico 7000? unit quite a few years ago. It packed in one day just as I was about to depart. I opened it up to have a look and the internals looked very delicate indeed. Don't even think of dropping it.
They are OK for light duty when motoring my ship, but unless things have changed, I would not trust them much for long term use. Mine lasted for about 3 years, and with intermittent use at that.

Autohelm 4000

Sorry about not enough information on it...

Model is Autohelm 4000...wheel drive, no belts..
The ser. # is: 490437...The very small ribbon cable going to the flux gate compass broke..Need the compass and attached ribbon cable..There is no digital read-out on the control head..Seems like a very early model right after the belt drives..

If the problem is just the ribbon cable I would be tempted to go to a local electronics supply store or online, get the appropriate ribbon cable and connector and make up my own cable. If the ribbon cable is soldered, resolder it. If this is beyond your skill level, take it to a small electronics repair shop, I would think it would be cheaper than a new unit.

Hi..

Yes have taken the control unit to three shops, they cannot solder it up either.. So hope I can find a old control head with a working compass with the very small ribbon cable still attach..

Part for Autohelm 4000

Anyone have a old control head for one of these..

The control head has no digital readout on it..All I need is the flux gate compass inside with the ribbon cable on it..Very easy to take it apart, 4 screws on the back of it and the two screws holding the compass on and the ribbon cable just un-plugs from the boad..inside the unit

Thanks for the replys
