West Marine Bosun's Chair Recalls

This one got me into some trouble with the Admiral.

Last year we purchased the "Professional Bosun's Chair" from West Marine and shortly after I hoisted my wife 20+ feet into the air in it to retrieve a lost hallyard.

Over a year later West Marine has issued a Voluntary Safety Recall on all of the Taylor Made bosun's chairs.... stating the webbing fails and the entire chair fails to support people while aloft.

Just thought I'd pass on the recall to you all, you can call West Marine to see if your chair is inside the recalled ones, ours was. Don't use your chair until you know it isn't in this group.

Yes, this is serious. I just hauled my Friend up his mast using my WM chair 2 weeks ago. I learned about the recall today. Makes you think. West is doing the right thing.

Just so you guys know... one of the other threads was posted on this previously... the other thread has the specific model numbers listed as well. I'd post a link to it, but I'm on a slow connection and don't have the bandwidth or the patience to hunt it down on a slow connection.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Cut off from the land that bore us, betrayed by the land we find, where the brightest have gone before us and the dullest remain behind, .......but stand to your glasses, steady,.......tis all we have left to prize, raise a cup to the dead already, hurrah for the next that dies
