Bottom Job $$$?

I need to get a bottom job on a 1982 34 O Day. The survey indicates that an epoxy barrier was applied over an old layer of anti-fouling paint. It sounds like it will all need to be taken all the off.
What sort of expense am I looking at to have all layers removed and bottom paint re-applied? There are only a few small blister spots I will also have fixed.
Also, should I apply another epoxy barrier coat or go with antifouling paint only?
The work will be done in the Corpus Christi TX area. I will not be doing the work myself although I wouldn't mind rolling some paint on.

Contact a Soda blaster in your area to get a quote to strip the boat's bottom. That is the hard and dirty part. If you can roll paint then you have all the skills to apply the barrier coat and anti-fouling paint.

I'd second the sodablasting... Once they've done it, you'll have a bit of sanding to do, then you can fair the hull, patch the blisters and barrier coat it.

I'd recommend using Interprotect 2000E, but you can also use any of the major brands of Epoxy. I found that using EP2KE was easier.

Rolling on the barrier coat is very easy to do, especially if you use both the white and gray IP2000E, as it allows you to readily see where you've barrier coated and with how many layers. Using epoxy is a bit more difficult to keep track of.

Steve, if you are going to have a yard do the work - I would sail the boat up to Clear Lake (it's about 24 hours to the Galveston Light, then up the bay about 40 miles) and have the work done at South Texas Yachts inside the Watergate complex -they are the best yard on the Texas Gulf Coast - while you're there, you'll see lots of Beneteaus in the yard for bent rudder posts. The yard manager's name is John and the number is 281-334-7245 or 281-334-5141. Even if you don't want to go that far even though it's just a short hop in a boat the size of yours), call and talk to him, get his email and email him your pictures and get his opinion on materials and about what the cost should be.
