AWLGRIP Paint /nonskid question

I painted my deck with awlgrip. I then mixed awlgrip griptex particles and rolled nonskid. Problem is, I ran out of flattening agent and I don't like the gloss in the nonskid. I want to paint another coat of flattened awlgrip over my current coat. Awlgrip says you need to sand in between coats, because its been a couple weeks.
It would take me forever to sand, I would have to sand all the nonskid off again, it would suck.

Question, does anyone know if I could just wire brush(bronze) the deck really well, and then awlprep/degrease.
Would this give sufficient tooth for the extra layer?
Should I just suck it up and live with the deck.

BTW here's the difference between flattened awlgrip nonskid(contrast), and just plain awlgrip nonskid(slight contrast).

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I havent remounted anything yet, so my deck is bare. This may be my last chance at it for a long time. Everytime I look at the deck and don't see perfection, I get pissed. I spent over 500 hours rebuilding the deck by myself. I figure if all I have to do is tape, prep and roll another coat, the time spent will be negligible.

Help me paint wizards.

I just went through this with interlux perfection. Rolled on the first coat and then the weather forecast changed so could not paint the second coat till a week later. I called Interlux tech support and they said just scuff it with bronze wool and it would be ok. I washed it and let it dry then applied a second coat and then a third the next day. I think the additive is a good tooth as any

As I recall the paint takes about 7 to 10 days to cure fully anyway....

Go for it GB...I think you will be just fine. I had my whole hull redone a few weeks after being done (yard screw up) and they barely scratched the surface with sanding for the next coat. I'm sure the bronze wool will be fine.
BTW...it looks like you are dong beautiful work!

Nice job Mango. If you want to remove the awlfullgrip, look up a product called eps - 2500 ( I think) you brush it on, and in 10 miniutes, wash it, and all the nonskid right off, repaint. I am using it to strip the deck of my 42 Tayana. I brought in my hatch lids, (which are Awlgrip), and the chemist at the company modified the mixture specifically for Awlgrip. You will be stunned at how fast and completely it comes off. No I don't know, or work for them (and whatever other crap people write when they actually find a product that works.)

Do it again if you get mad everytime you look at it. Now is the time to do it!
If you start putting everything back on the deck you will hate yourself.
I really believe that scuffing it slightly with bronze wool/brush will be enough tooth - the additive itself will give it tooth as well

he contrast between glos and non skid in 1st pic is very nice. We redid deck on last boat with Interlux Interthane Plus (now perfection). Same contrast. It was this contrast and teh nonskid & taping that set off the whole job.

Get the flattening agent and do it. the fact that you are asking indicates you want to.

Does awlgrip have the same tech support that Interlux has? (same company now). With interlux there is a 1-800 number you call and a tech can answer your question.
