The standard models use ball-bearing sheaves, while the ESP range (deck organizers and blocks) use plain, axle bearings. Thus the ESP stuff might have more friction than the ball-bearing stuff, but might also be better suited for high "static" loads.
FWIW, I am using ESP blocks at my mast base, and ESP deck organizers.
