Moving traveler on Morgan OI 30

I'm considering purchasing a Morgan OI 30, but one thing I don't like is that the traveler spans the seats just in front of the wheel. I had this on a previous boat and found it dangerous in high seas, but my main reason for wanting to change this is it almost eliminates the possibility of a bimini giving any real coverage. Since I sail the Bahamas in summer, a full bimini fairly important to me. To placed traveler forward of the companion way hatch would place if very close to the mast.

I'm wondering if there are any Morgan owners that have addressed this issue.

Thanks.
