Congrats on the new boat
Plenty of good advice given so far. Now that you have a new (older) boat, do yourself a favor and get a copy of Don Casey's Complete Illustrated Sailboat Maintenance Manual (about $40). It covers everything from hull repair to painting to making canvas. It's become my bible for restoring my new old boat. The only trouble is that you'll find tons of things you never knew you needed to do!
Where are you in NC? If you're on the Sounds, hope to see you out there someday.
