Head Mate HAND Pump...not!

Hello,have not had to ask a question in awhile.I have a 1971 Morgan 30 Sloop.Was using the Head Mate last night and the small hand pump on the right side of the bowl,moved without a friction or pumping ability.We had noticed some water leakage at the top of the nut holding the pump in for about a week.We use the boat 2 to 3 times a weeka nd have decided to use it more.
Is there a repair kit,such as a new handle section or seal?Any help would be greatly appreciated,Ray

Just rebuilt mine last week. I will put together a thread for how to do this soon for you. Yes there is a rebuild kit. Costs about $7X.XX bucks - or half the price of a whole new toilet. Still, easier to just rebuild and maybe better. Gaskets are fresh and new.

I cannot put the thread together rigth not. Got a conference call. Will help soon.

Hello,thanks for your replies.We were going to sell the boat,but my 11 year old daughter is really enjoying the night sailing.We live in the Jackson,Miss area and too hot to sail uring the day.
We had bought the boat as a project boat,and then bought a Honda Goldwing....opps...and my wife loves to ride,you can't have two masters,but I am going to give it a try.Thanks again for all of your help....Ray

If you see a leak at that top nut (part 25 in the drawing) just tighten it a little. That nut is only there to tighten the packing (part 26). Don't over tighten or the handle with be hard to stroke, but not so loose it leaks.

If it doesn't pump at all, it could be a few things. I've had seaweed block up the flapper valves before (part 9). I installed a small Grocco strainer on the sea water in line to prevent that in the future. Easier to clean a strainer than rebuild a pump.
