Quadrant rusting

The stantions on my quandrant are rusting and my question is what can I do about it. They seam secure but wish to slow or eliminate the progression.

I don't know how to show a picture but it would illustrate my problem clearly.

Help.

I've never..

I've never seen a quadrant with stanchions before? Perhaps you could describe what and where these pieces are? Generally the quadrant is clamped to the rudder post bellow decks and stanchions are what your life lines attach to.

A stanchion is a vertical post that the life lines usually are attached to, generally made of stainless steel.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
